Metropolitan Buddhist Center (MBC) was founded by Ven. Ming Hsiu in 2000 and the temple was officially inaugurated in Flushing, New York on November 1, 2003.
Our purpose: The purpose of our organization is to teach Buddhism, to encourage compassion, to help others attain wisdom and enlightenment, to achieve the original goal of the Buddha and work for the purification of the world, to emulate the spirit of the Buddha by being active and optimistic and give others confidence, hope and joy.
Education: promoting comprehensive education and extend loving care to all, uplifting the character of humanity, planning for Buddhist seminars.
Public outreach: raising found for disaster relief, support other charitable organizations, being actively involved in charity services, planning for community Buddhist workshops and ongoing nursing home visits.
Caring services: providing a spiritual space for relaxation and retreat, opening to public for worships, Dharma gathering, yoga classes, family counseling, and memorial chanting services.
